FAQ

Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant that is grown specifically for nutritional and industrial uses. Hemp has a special composition that makes it better for nutritional and industrial uses than other variants of the Cannabis sativa family. Hemp is not intended for intoxicating use and by law contains no more than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the intoxicating ingredient Cannabis is more commonly known for.

Hemp seeds contain protein, healthy Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9 fatty acids, potassium, fiber, magnesium and iron. Hemp makes a great addition to any diet but is a particularly excellent animal-protein replacement for those on a plant-based diet because hemp seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids and high protein content per weight.

Yes, hemp is a superfood! There are no standard definitions for a superfood at this time but a general consensus is that a superfood is any nutrient dense food, particularly one that offers high nutritional value for minimal calories. The ratio of fatty acids present in hemp may support immune system function, healthy cholesterol levels, and metabolism regulation.

Our hemp protein is different than others on the market because we source our hemp protein from the heart of the seed. This means we have a more pure protein with 70%+ protein content plus macro and micronutrients. Traditional hemp protein is green because it is sourced from the entire seed as opposed to the seed's heart. Traditional hemp protein is only 55% protein, dense in weight and has an intense earthy flavor; whereas our hemp heart protein is flavorless and light with a slight sweet undertone.

Our hemp protein is sourced from the seed of the plant, not the floral material; therefore, our hemp protein contains no CBD, THC or other cannabinoids. You won't experience a THC high or a CBD relaxation, just nutrition!

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), the essential amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine, are commonly used in both pre and post workouts. Typically you want to aim for 5 grams of BCAA for both. One serving of Anavii Hemp Protein has about half that so it’s a great addition to your pre or post workout but not necessarily a full replacement. We like a hemp protein latte or fruit smoothie for pre-workout! Or, if you are in need of post-workout snacks, try our protein pumpkin cookie recipe.

Yes! Hemp does not contain any gluten and is not related to gluten containing plants like wheat or barley.

We understand that this may be unusual for protein powder veterans but we believe the planet’s health is vital to our own health. As such, we couldn’t bring ourselves to create more plastic waste. Please reuse any protein powder or meal replacement measuring cups you may already have or use your regular measuring spoons/cups.
